EL SOL CIGAR PRODUCTION - DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

El Sol cigars have been dedicated to handmade cigars for over 97 years. This month, we visited our production facility in Santiago to witness the production of our new 98th Year anniversary edition cigars. Each piece in this line is a Grande, measuring 60 X 6, and is wrapped in either a Colorado or Habano Claro leaf. Looking ahead, in September 2026, we will commence cigar production of our first Maduro, which will be available for sale late that year, continuing our tradition rooted in quality tobacco farming.

WRAPPERS

CIGAR BANDS

Every El Sol handmade cigar is individually wrapped to protect it from drying out during shipping and storage. The wrappers also shield these premium cigars from rubbing and potentially cracking the tobacco leaf wrappers, which are an essential part of cigar production. After receiving your box of El Sol's cigars through the mail, always allow them several days in your humidor to regain their proper humidity. Cracking wrappers and splitting wrappers are common issues for cigars that require re-hydration to reach the optimal humidity level, a critical aspect influenced by the quality of tobacco farming.

CIGAR BANDS

Once handmade cigars like El Sol are produced, the cigar band is applied. During earlier decades of cigar production, specifically in the 1980s up to the 2010s, El Sol cigars did not feature a cigar band. It is only in the past three years that El Sol has begun the practice of adding cigar bands. The current design of the cigar band was created by Italian artist Filippo Giansanti, reflecting the artistry that complements the dedication of tobacco farming behind these premium blends.
